Teaching & Learning Grants
The Learning Institute provides financial support to encourage scholarly investigations and the development or implementation of a project that enhances LUMS students’ educational experience. Financial support is provided through the funding of two research grants:
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research grants (Application form)
Design & Innovation grants (Application form)
- Deadline to apply: May 30th
- Length of Grant: One year
- Award amount: PKR 500,000
- Successful applications notified by: June 16th
- Session with LLI for Grant winners: June 22nd
Eligibility: Grant holders must be continuously employed by LUMS for the duration of the Grant. Adjunct instructors, graduate students, and other appointments that do not continuously span the full duration of the grant may be co-applicants.
As in any scholarly activity, it is important to learn about what others have done, reflect on our own practice, and build on existing knowledge. This one-year grant program is designed to engage faculty in leading change, practice the scholarship of teaching and learning, and support faculty communities that provide mentorship and leadership in teaching and learning.
In partnership with the LLI, faculty will:
(1) plan and implement a pedagogical project within one of two streams: Scholarship of Teaching and Learning or Design & Innovation;
(2) participate in a network of Grant Fellows;
(3) provide mentorship and feedback to peers; and
(4) disseminate project outcomes both within and beyond their departments.

All grant winners who complete their SoTL project (as outlined in the Terms of Reference) will be eligible to receive the “Research: Inquiry & Scholarship” Certificate, as part of the LUMS Faculty Certificates in Teaching and Learning.

We are incredibly excited to showcase the first cohort of the Teaching & Learning Grant at LUMS. These grants support pedagogical research and design at LUMS, enabling our faculty members to enhance learning experiences for our students.
We received a remarkable number of exceptional grant proposals from faculty members across all schools. Following a rigorous review process conducted by the selection committee, five proposals were accepted for funding. These projects have truly impressed us with their innovative approaches and their potential to bring about a significant impact on teaching and learning practices at LUMS.
