Workshop description  

The LUMS Learning Institute is pleased to introduce the Faculty Success Series, a slate of ten 1-hour talks dedicated to helping early and mid-career faculty members address their most pressing challenges: ranging from struggles with research productivity, and balancing teaching with writing, to work-life balance. 

The program aims to help faculty members design and meet both their individual and career goals, in a supportive and engaging environment. The sessions will take place across the academic year, providing a platform for faculty members to voice their needs, receive peer support and feedback, and learn from experts.

Dr. Zafar Ayub Qazi and Dr. Ghazal Mir Zulfiqar will be leading this engaging and practical discussion on understanding and managing stress, identifying common academic stressors, and building resilience in the face of rejection.

Dr. Zafar Ayyub Qazi
Dr. Zafar Ayyub Qazi
Assistant Professor, SBASSE

Dr. Zafar Ayyub Qazi received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stony Brook University, New York in 2015 and BSc. (Hons) degree from LUMS in 2009. Prior to joining LUMS, Dr. Qazi was a Postdoctoral scholar at UC Berkeley. He has also worked at Hewlett Packard Labs and AT&T Research.  His research interests are in computer networks and systems. His current research focuses on the design of future cellular networks, design and management of large-scale cloud and data center networks, and improving web and video access over the Internet in developing regions.

Dr. Ghazal Mir Zulfiqar

Associate Professor, SDSB

Dr. Ghazal Zulfiqar has a PhD in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, an MSc in Development Finance from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.

Minahil is the Lead for the Pedagogical Partnerships vertical at LLI and has a passion for lifelong learning. She believes that all individuals can develop curiosity, unlearn old ideas, and engage in debate while embracing and celebrating diversity in thought, actions, and community. Minahil holds a Master’s degree in Adult Learning and Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology from the Lahore University of Management Sciences.
